Innocent Smoothies Big Knit: Bumblebee

Another Big Knit Hat design!

Materials needed; pair of 4mm straight knitting needles, DK yarn in yellow, black and white, small amount of toy stuffing, darning needle to make up

K = knit

P = purl

Gt-st = garter stitch (knit all rows)

St-st = stocking stitch (knit one row, purl one row)

Kfb = increase by knitting into front and back of stitch

K2tog = knit two stitches together

Pattern;

Body

Using 4mm knitting needles, in black yarn, cast on 31sts

Rows 1-2: gt-st 2 rows

Rows 3-4: beg with k row, st-st 2 rows

Change to yellow yarn

Rows 5-8: st-st 4 rows

Change to black yarn

Rows 9-10: st-st 2 rows

Change to yellow yarn

Rows 11-14: st-st 4 rows

Change to black yarn

Row 15: (k2tog) repeat to last stitch, k1 (16sts remaining)

Row 16: purl row

Row 17: (k2tog) repeat to end (8sts remaining)

Break and thread through remaining stitches, leaving piece of yarn long enough to sew seams

Head

In yellow yarn, cast on 8sts

Row 1: (kfb) repeat to end (16sts remaining)

Row 2: p row

Row 3: (kfb, k3) repeat to end (20sts remaining)

Row 4-8: beg with a p row, st-st 5 rows

Row 9: (k2tog, k3) repeat to end (16sts remaining)

Row 10: purl row

Row 11: (k2tog) repeat to end (8sts remaining)

Break and thread yarn through remaining stitches, leaving piece of yarn long enough to sew seams of head

Wings (make 2)

In white, cast on 6sts

Rows 1-8: gt-st 8 rows

Row 9: k2tog, k2, k2tog (4 sts remaining)

Row 10: k row

Cast off knit-wise

Antenna (make 2)

In black, cast on 7 stitches

Cast off

Making Up

Sew the seams of the body. Sew the seams of the head, leaving a small gap, insert small amount of toy stuffing, and close seam shut. Attach head to top of body. Attach antenna to the top of the head and sew on a face. Attach the wings to either side of the body.
